Hi again, Broken Ones,
It's good to be back with a more frequent schedule of updates. Do you remember the good old times of the campaign, when we were all young and free?
Anyway, on today's update:
Let's go!
First of all, many thanks. Some of you have been massively helpful in finding residual issues (typos, formatting issues, etc.) on the available files – I think we're talking a hundred improvements so far. It's small stuff (a comma here, a bolded word there), but it makes a big difference to the book's overall quality. Next, it's time to set a deadline for the available files (Core Book, sheets for both the Core Book and The Broken Ones), so we can prep the files for print.
That deadline is June 10. After that date, we'll implement everything, finalize the files, and move on with the actual printing process.

I promised them, and here they are. We're thrilled with the samples we received, and the complete order is printing as we speak.
In a good place. The book is, as of today, 100% translated into English and about 85% edited. We already have 120 pages in layout, and we expect the final page count to be around 170-180 (so yeah, more than we promised).
As the prerelease community review was so precious for the previous materials, we are hoping to have it for The Broken Ones too. Unfortunately, we need to see if we can find the time for it before everything grinds to a halt for the summer*, but we'll try. The goal is to have the complete file by the end of June.
*Just because I'm not sure the issue is clear, Europe enters a "very little-gets-done" period between July and August when people have their summer holidays. The exact period changes between northern and southern Europe – and because we are all scattered around the continent, as are our production and shipping hubs, we need to work around that. I also want, in all sincerity, the team to have some peaceful holidays after a year and a half of non-stop work on Broken Tales.

The game is up for preorder on our website. Please share the news; every order helps our operations – I didn't want to go into details in this update, but the latest estimates we received for production and shipping are brutal (to put it mildly) compared to last year. It's a small step for you, a giant step for mankind.

Ciao di nuovo a tutti, Infranti,
È bello ritornare alle abitudini di una volta con gli update, vi ricordate i bei tempi della campagna, quando eravamo giovani?
Comunque, per quanto riguarda oggi, parleremo di:
Partiamo!
Prima di tutto, grazie mille. Alcuni di voi si sono adoperati alacremente nel trovare problemi residui nell’impaginato dei file disponibili (errori di battitura, problemi di formattazione, ecc.). Solo fra quelli collezionati finora, parliamo di circa 100 miglioramenti. Sono piccole cose (una virgola qui, una parola in grassetto là), ma fanno molta differenza per la qualità complessiva del libro. Detto questo, è arrivato il momento di fissare una scadenza per i file già disponibili (Core Book, schede del Core Book e di The Broken Ones), in modo da poterli preparare per la stampa.
La scadenza è il 10 giugno. Dopo tale data, implementeremo tutto, finalizzeremo i file e procederemo con il processo di stampa vero e proprio.

Includeremo nel file stampa ogni miglioramento possibile.
Le avevo promesse, ed eccole qui. Siamo entusiasti dei campioni ricevuti e l'ordine completo è già in fase di stampa.
Siamo messi bene. Ad oggi, il libro è editato al 100% in italiano, tradotto al 100% in inglese ed editato in inglese all'85%. Abbiamo già impaginato 120 pagine e ce ne aspettiamo un totale di 170-180 (quindi sì, più di quante promesse).
Dato che la revisione dei file prerelease è stata così preziosa per i materiali precedenti, speriamo di poterla fare anche per The Broken Ones. Dobbiamo però vedere i tempi prima che tutto si blocchi per l'estate, ma ci proveremo. L'obiettivo è di avere il file completo entro la fine di giugno.
Sarebbe bello, in tutta sincerità, che il team riesca a fare delle vacanze tranquille dopo un anno e mezzo di lavoro ininterrotto su Broken Tales.
Annoiati? Tutti gli altri GdR non significano più nulla dopo aver letto Broken Tales? Non abbiamo mai pubblicato la seconda parte di Resterò per Sempre con Te. Trovate la prima QUI. Vi servirà a passare il tempo in attesa dei volumi stampati.

Hello, Broken Ones,
Updates will happen more frequently now that we're wrapping up all the materials. I have a new PDF to share and a few more things to mention. In this update:
They're ready! If you pledged for any version of The Broken Ones, you will receive an email from Backerkit with the PDF download link. These sheets add 13 new Hunters to the cast of Broken Tales, some featuring really bizarre mechanics.
Everything I said in the previous update holds true: what to do if you don't get the email, how to complete your Backerkit survey, etc. Please refer to the first link for details.
This time too, we need your help catching residual typos: we have about ten days before we need to lock these sheets down and send them to print (sheets and vinyl jackets will be printed first). How can you help?
You can refer to the previous update for more instructions, but this is pretty much it.

Today I ordered a sample for the final selection of Hunters to make sure they are printed to the level of quality we want. Proofs will be here in about two weeks, so stay tuned for more pictures.

Last weekend, Alberto and I attended Play Modena, the second biggest Italian event for tabletop RPG and board games. We had two boxes full of Broken Tales quickstarts with us – they ran out halfway through the event. We might not be great at estimating demand, but it was undoubtedly a good sign.
We also ran several demos for the game, and it was nice to see so much interest in it. Check out some pictures!
Our own PhoenixWrites has been running some Broken Tales games on both SoulsWarsRPG and Fool's Moon Entertainment channels. Check these games out!
Please tell your friends that they can preorder Broken Tales in English from our website from today. For US customers: we can offer decent shipping rates towards the US for a very limited time, exploiting the same bulk shipment of the campaign. After that, shipping becomes quite steep, but there's very little we can do there short of fixing the world.
Come talk to us on Discord – if when you get there, you don't see a Broken Tales channel, it's because you need to pick a language first. You can do it from #start-here, as the name suggests. This has happened, so that's why I'm mentioning it.

Sono pronti! Se avete fatto il pledge per una qualsiasi versione di The Broken Ones, riceverete un'e-mail da Backerkit con il link per il download del PDF delle Schede dei Cacciatori. Queste Schede aggiungono 13 nuovi Cacciatori al cast di Broken Tales, alcuni con meccaniche davvero bizzarre che vi lasciamo scoprire.
Tutto ciò che vi ho detto nel precedente aggiornamento rimane valido: cosa fare se non si riceve l'e-mail, come completare il sondaggio di Backerkit, ecc. Fate riferimento al primo link per i dettagli.

Questo fine settimana appena passato, Alberto e io abbiamo partecipato a Play Modena, il secondo più grande evento italiano per giochi di ruolo e giochi da tavolo. Avevamo con noi due scatoloni pieni di quickstart di Broken Tales, che sono finiti a metà dell'evento. Non saremo bravi a stimare la domanda, ma il segnale è stato senza dubbio positivo.
Abbiamo anche fatto diverse demo del gioco, ed è stato bello vedere così tanto interesse per Broken Tales. Date un'occhiata alle foto!

Today is the day! You're about to get access to…
It took time, but we're proud to present you the complete, playable Core Book PDF of Broken Tales – 269 pages of love, RPG, and scary fairytale material to ruin your friends' childhood with (don't do that, I'm joking). In the same drop you’ll also get all Core Book Hunters and summary sheets.
You will receive the download link from Backerkit. The emails go out in batches, so do not panic if you don't get them right away. If after 24 hours you have not received it:
THE PRERELEASE CORE BOOK
Ok, so why is this called "Prerelease"? Because, albeit complete, we still have some weeks for the final FINAL fixes before sending it to print – and we need your help finding glitches and residual typos! (just to be clear, we're not really outsourcing the editing process. Seven people spent the last few weeks getting this into shape, but we're getting blind, and collectively, you have a lot more eyeballs than us 👀 ).
The file you'll receive is low-res, to limit download size. You'll also get a hi-res version when the final version is ready. Given the project's nature, the hi-res version is BIG.
HOW TO HELP
First of all, enjoy reading it!
If you encounter typos or something that looks wrong in the layout, please follow this procedure:
Things we're looking for → typos, graphic glitches, missing words, wrong words, extra spaces, and ambiguous rules.
We're probably not looking for → suggestions on what fonts to use (unless some formatting seems wrong), word changes that are a matter of taste (unless your proposal is clearly superior to what we came up with), reworking of entire paragraphs (unless absolutely necessary) or major changes that will disrupt the layout. Still mention the issue if it bothers you, and we'll consider it, but be aware we might not end up implementing it.
I promise we'll evaluate every single note :) This is when you have an opportunity to help us improve the game's clarity!
OTHER FEEDBACK
We hope this is the game you hoped for – we certainly tried our best! So much work went into it, and our sincere hope is that it shows. Please feel free to come to our Discord server to tell us your impressions, especially if you get to play it. The team will be happy to hear about your experience and answer any questions you might have. Also, it is beneficial at this point if you mention Broken Tales to your friends and in the online communities you're part of – a lot of people were surprised (kind of I-never-heard-of-it-surprised) when we came in second in the EnWorld "Most Anticipated RPG of 2022" survey, and you're in the best position to get Broken Tales on people's radar :) This will, in turn, enable us to do more Broken Tales in the future and, in general, keep making cool games.

C'è voluto del tempo, ma siamo orgogliosi di presentarvi il PDF del Libro Base completo e giocabile di Broken Tales - 269 pagine di amore, RPG, horror e materiale fiabesco con cui rovinare l'infanzia dei vostri amici (non fatelo, sto scherzando). Nello stesso drop troverete anche tutti i Cacciatori del Libro Base e le schede riassuntive da usare al tavolo.
Riceverete il link per il download da Backerkit. Le email escono scaglionate, quindi non fatevi prendere dal panico se non la ricevete subito. Se dopo 24 ore non l'avete ricevuta:

Perché si chiama "Prerelease"? Perché, anche se il volume è completo, abbiamo ancora qualche settimana per le correzioni davvero FINALI prima di mandarlo in stampa - e abbiamo bisogno del vostro aiuto per trovare glitch e refusi residui! (giusto per capirci, non stiamo esternalizzando il processo di editing. Sette persone hanno trascorso le ultime settimane a revisionare il tutto, ma ormai ci esce dagli occhi, e matematicamente parlando, voi avete molti più bulbi oculari di noi 👀 ).
Il file che riceverete è a bassa risoluzione, per limitare le dimensioni del download. Riceverete anche una versione ad alta risoluzione quando la versione finale sarà pronta. Vista la natura del progetto, la versione ad alta risoluzione è GROSSA.
COME AIUTARE
Prima di tutto, godetevi la lettura!
Se incontrate errori di battitura o qualcosa che sembra sbagliato nel layout, seguite questa procedura:
Segnalazioni utili → errori di battitura, glitch grafici, parole mancanti, parole sbagliate, spazi in eccesso e regole ambigue.
Segnalazioni molto meno utili → suggerimenti su quali font usare (a meno che qualche formattazione non sembri sbagliata), cambi di parole che sono più una questione di gusto (a meno che la vostra proposta non sia chiaramente superiore alla nostra), rielaborazione di interi paragrafi (a meno che non sia assolutamente necessario) o grandi cambiamenti che possono sconvolgere il layout. Se il problema vi dà fastidio menzionatelo e lo prenderemo in considerazione, ma siate consapevoli che potremmo non implementare la soluzione suggerita.
Prometto che valuteremo ogni singola osservazione :) Questo è il momento in cui avete l'opportunità di aiutarci a migliorare la chiarezza del gioco!

Ci auguriamo che questo sia il gioco che speravate – abbiamo certamente fatto del nostro meglio sia per scriverlo che per illustrarlo.
